NEEMAMO MISHKANAN OPENING WEEKEND

The Neemamo Mishkanan “We Canoe Together” program officially launched this weekend, with an opening weekend of introductions, workshops, and cultural events!

Youth, Elders, Knowledge Holders, scientists, and a professional photographer gathered in Cochrane, Ontario, with Youth learning from Elders about traditional ways that they used to travel the land, from Knowledge Holders and scientists about plants and animals they might meet along and way, and from scientists and the photographer about ways that they could document what they see and learn by collecting data or taking photographs. The team bonded over good food and made lasting connections, and are excited for the upcoming canoe and safety training, and then the canoe trip itself in August!
