SHAPING THE YEAR AHEAD: TEAM WORKPLANNING

In January, the Learning from Lake Sturgeon Team gathered in Timmins, Ontario. Each year our team meets in-person to workplan, to see each-other, and move forward motivated to achieve common goals in Kit Aski Nahnuun (the Moose Cree Homeland) in the coming year.

What is workplanning you might ask? Workplanning is a way to set up the year for success! At this gathering, we made group decisions through workplanning on:

  • Group Goals (what we want to accomplish this year)

  • Tasks/Activities/Events (key steps and things that help us meet our goals)

  • Timelines & Deadlines (when those tasks/activities/events are happening)

  • Roles & Responsibilities (who is leading what, and who is helping)

In our workplanning this year, we went for an active and interactive approach, and we set up a calendar across a large wall, and filled it in — look at all those sticky-notes!

Overall, 2025 is looking like a great year for the Learning from Lake Sturgeon Team, and we can’t wait to work on, and update community members on our progress — stay tuned on this Latest News page!
